Nanak Shah Fakir, A new Hindi movie 2015 is named after and on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Born in 1469 A.D. Nanak traveled the world to spread the essence of 'Ik Onkar' (there's but One God) as a philosophy and way of life. A philosophy that has survived and risen above the flux of conflict and time, impacting over 50 million followers worldwide and giving birth to 'SIKHISM' as a way of life. ('Sikh' signifies a disciple).
Throughout his life, Guru Nanak shared his blessings of divine knowledge through mystic and soulfully divine music. He sang to the Lord and taught us, ordinary mortals, the virtues of peace, love and harmony. Guru Nanak was referred to as 'Shah' by the Muslims and 'Fakir' by the Hindus, the highest honor given in both religions and hence came to be known as 'Nanak Shah Fakir'
It is pertinent to mention here that keeping in line with the tradition, Guru Nanak has been portrayed through COMPUTER GRAPHICS only and that too from the back, amidst a ray of light. The extraordinary experiences during the production yet were overwhelming and deeply humbling. While some have been recorded on reels, others are embedded in the heart, forever. Gracefully, the film enjoys full support and Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
The movie begins with Jaggu played by Anushka Sharma, a journalist student in Belguim comes back to India after finishing her studies. Here she encounters PK played by Aamir Khan who has a unique view of looking at things, which is why she accompanies him on the journey. He eats only carrots and gets his clothes from what he refers to as 'dancing cars' which are basically cars where couples are making out. He is in search of god, and during his journey, he questions the issue of how we all approach god. Religion has become a business these days which is what P.K reveals by asking simple questions that offend the self proclaimed godman, played by Saurabh Shukla. Shukla also happens to be followed piously by Jaggu's father, played by Parikshit Sahni.
With a storyline that has been weaved around the matter of religion in a completely new manner, PK also drops surprises at regular intervals that both shock and please the audience.
Sushant Singh Rajput, who plays Anushka's love interest, has handled his role in the delicate manner that it ought to be handled in. Anushka has done a great job as the reporter who assists Aamir in his journey. We believe her funky haircut and pretty earrings shall become a fashion statement amongst girls very soon.
Veteran actor Parikshit Sahni plays the role of the religious, excessive god fearing and superstitious father to the T. And Saurabh Shukla as the godman has done a brilliant job, once again. On regular intervals you shall flashes of various godmen who adorn our TVs by daylight in his role. It is wonderful to see Sanjay Dutt in a lovable role on screen once again, in the hands of the man who knows how to handle him best- Rajkumar Hirani. Boman Irani is lovable as the editor of the news channel who has a trishul stamped on his backside, a result of the last time he aired an anti-godman show.
And Aamir Khan? Well, Aamir is as usual, at his very best in this movie and portrays the various quirks of his character with the flourish of a master. One must mention that we are fortunate to have actors like Aamir who address serious issues of society. He does it by ganging up with masters of the game like Hirani, so that the whole issue is presented to us in a masterful manner.
The songs in the film fortunately are used to carry the film forward, and not mindlessly just add to the screen-time, which is what is happening a lot nowadays. Hence one must say that Shantanu Moitra, Ajay-Atul, Ankit Tiwari and Ram Sampath have done full justice to the music of the movie.
We shall go for 4 stars for this Hirani film which is surely, without an iota of doubt, a must watch.
The interesting story, sterling performances by Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani, melodious music, high entertainment quotient, amazing camera work, beautiful, costumes, makeup, art direction and locations are the big attractions of the film "PK". The story of "PK" revolves around a stranger in the city, who asks questions that no one has asked before. Known only by his initials, PK's innocent questions and childlike curiosity will take him on a journey of love, laughter and letting-go. The film is a satire on "God and godmen". Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma, who have teamed up for the first time, are seen in never-played-before roles and the amazing chemistry between the two and their impeccable comedy timing are the main attractions of this much-hyped movie. Sushant Singh Rajput, Boman Irani, Sanjay Dutt, Saurabh Shukla and Ram Sethi have ssayed important roles in "PK" and their performances are also among the big assets of the film. Ajay Atul, Shantanu Moitra and Ankit Tiwari scored music for the songs and background score, while CK Muraleedharan handled the cinematography for the film.

The song "Tharki Chokro" was the first single track released on 8 November 2014, the song is picturised on Aamir Khan and Sanjay Dutt which was sung by Swaroop Khan and composed by Ajay-Atul with lyrics are penned by Swanand Kirkire.
The second single track "Love is a waste of time" featuring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma released on 13 November 2014 on YouTube. The song is sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal, composed by Shantanu Moitra with the lyrics of Amitabh Varma. "Chaar Kadam" song released on 22 November 2014 on T-Series YouTube Page. The song is sung by Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal, composed by Shantanu Moitra and lyrics by Swanand Kirkire. The song is picturised on Sushant Singh Rajput and Anushka Sharma.
Bhagat Puran Singh was truly a great man, one of the greatest Indians ever lived. Gave whole of his life for the betterment of people nobody wanted to know.
Bhagat Puran Singh even though a Sikh was a true follower of Bhai Ghanaya Ji who did not distinguish between Sikhs and Muslims in the battlefield and gave help to all.
The Pinglewara had people of all religions, and were/are treated fairly and equally.
